Audrey’s 65 Mustang Coupe Restoration
What’s your history with restoring cars?
Yes this is my first project car ever – tinkered with friends cars but never really with my own. First modded car I owned was a R33 Nissan Skyline GTST – but have always been into my muscle cars, so sold up to restore my dream car!
What has been done so far?
So far the car has been taken apart, and has been sent to paint (has been there a while but should be done within the next couple months) and in the meantime I have been buying bits and pieces
to get it together for she returns from the paint shop. So far
not heaps has been done because of this, but have bought my engine,
transmission, exhaust, wheels and tyres (american racing torq thrust II
17″ wheels) and some interior/exterior bits
and pieces. The car was originally a 289 V8 with a C4 3 spd transmission. I have bought a brand new
302 Dart block with has been stroked to a 363, 500 hp engine. Its got all the
bells and whistles on it… ie. Dart pro-one Aluminium heads and much more.
What’s left to be done?
Once I get all my “bits”which should be within the next 2-3 months, will be putting in the motor/transmission, still need to organise my interior and have it made up
- going for black and grey leather with purple stitching. Then need to
organise diff/brakes/suspension and then a stereo system and have the car
re-wired. then will try and get it licenced *fingers crossed*!!!
Why i chose a 65 mustang coupe?
Its been my dream car ever since I was about 6 or 7 years old. As i said I have never restored a car before, but I am extremely passionate about my muscle cars, and this is the car
I have always wanted to build.
What will happen when it’s done?
Once its finished, the idea is to have a tough looking muscle car that goes as well as it looks!!
We will check back with Audrey in 6 months to see how the progress.
